Membership Now Open

I am so excited to announce that the Point Roberts Makers Guild is launching our Membership Drive. This is the next major step towards our goal of opening this summer!

Since we shared our last project update, we've been hard at work behind the scenes to create a solid foundation for bringing the vision to life. This has included: 

• Launching the new website

• Recruiting new steering committee members (welcome Craig and Faye!)

• Grant writing (we will hear about the latest application next month!) & getting ready to fundraise (thank you to Whatcom Community Foundation and the Point Roberts Community Chest for our first donation!)

• Sourcing retail fixtures for the shop, and furniture for the community room

• and most of all, researching other makers guilds, maker stores and spaces to learn from best practices nationally 

Now, we are ready to expand our circle of collaborators by welcoming our first members. 

There are 3 tiers of membership: 

1. Makers, creatives, and artists who would like to sell their products in the shop and/or use the community room for events and are willing to commit to working 2 staff shifts per month. (Either in the shop, or other staffing needs)

2. Makers, creatives, and artists who would like to sell their products in the shop at 5 Mile Sq Studio (1389 Gulf) but are not able to commit to working staff shifts. They will pay a higher monthly fee and percentage of their sales than Tier 2 to help cover operational costs.

3. Community members who don't want to sell products or teach classes, but would like to access other member benefits and/or support the Guild and our mission.

Currently, we are planning on a soft-opening for our shop & community room at 5 Mile Sq Studio (1389 Gulf) in mid-June, and a grand opening in early July. We are so excited to welcome more people to the Guild, and work together to build a community resource that supports a thriving Point Roberts.
