Community Art Show: Sarah Rosner
The Point Roberts Makers Guild is proud to announce its inaugural monthly artist showcase, featuring the work of Canadian artist Sarah Rosner. The free exhibition opens August 15th and runs through September 13th at 5 Mile Sq. Studio on the Point.
Rosner is a young emerging artist currently balancing a business degree with a deep and growing creative practice. Working primarily in acrylic paint and charcoal, she creates work that invites viewers to slow down and find the emotion and beauty hiding in ordinary moments, familiar landscapes, and the natural world.
Two pieces anchor the exhibition. The Spirit is a striking charcoal drawing of a white horse; a symbol of freedom and inner strength rendered with rich shadow and delicate highlight to capture both physical power and a profound sense of peace. Sunset on the Prairie is an acrylic painting of Rosner's family farm in summer, alive with warm color and the kind of evening you want to hold onto long after the light is gone.
Artist statement:
“My name is Sarah Rosner and I am a young aspiring Canadian artist. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business while creating art on the side. I have been creative my whole life, but it wasn’t until high school that my artistic skills truly blossomed, and they have continued to grow ever since. Art is my passion, and during stressful times it acts as a source of comfort and allows me to get lost in the details without thinking about anything else. I enjoy capturing fine details that encourage viewers to slow down and appreciate the beauty in ordinary moments.
I primarily work with acrylic paint and charcoal, but I have also explored watercolour, oil paint, and of course, graphite. What inspires me the most is the beauty of nature and the emotions found in everyday experiences. My work conveys vibrant colours and deep contrasting values, along with layered textures that explore the concepts of animals, people, and natural landscapes. My artistic goal is to continually challenge myself by creating each new piece with greater detail and depth than the last. I believe every piece of art has the ability to tell a unique story, and allow others to connect with and relate to it. I hope my viewers can feel the emotion and liveliness in each piece that I create while also experiencing a sense of connection as well as wonder."
All works are free to view. The exhibition is open during regular studio hours through September 13th.
